Drinking Water Safety when Travelling

The following quote from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reminds us that when traveling, we need to be concerned about drinking water safety. North Americans are, for the most part, provided with water that is generally free of bacteria (largely due to chlorination) and we tend to take it for granted that we won't get sick from water.

CDC - Yellow Book: CDC Travelers' Health: "Travelers should use only purified water for drinking, preparing ice cubes, brushing teeth, and mixing infant formula and foods.

When we travel, though, we really do need to be careful of what may be in the drinking water. Portable water filters are readily available that can filter water when you're traveling. They may be water bottle filters, or drinking straw filters or various other portable water filters designed for travel to remote areas (ie wilderness travel).
